In what was a replay of last year's conference Finals, and a preview of this year's to come, St. Mary's succumbed in an epic game that went to overtime at 44 apiece. Although St. Mary's Kadaja Bailey's poured in 37 points, our girls pulled out a gritty, gutsy team win for a final score of SAHS 56 - St Mary's 54.
Scoring was led by 18 points from Sydney Taylor which included a clutch 3 in OT. Ashia Smith had a breakout shooting game with 3 - 3s, contributing 13 points, and causing great defensive disruption throughout the game. Tamia Lawhorne contributed 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks while her twin, Taylor Lawhorne cleaned the boards with 11 rebounds (10 of them offensive) while also adding 8 points, an assist and a steal. Senior point guard Lauren Hackett had 7 points, a spectacular 8 steals, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
