This game lived up to its advance billing of "The Clash of the Titans".  St Anthony's came into this game undefeated in league play and St. Mary's had only one loss, to the Friars, in OT the previous meeting.
It was a furiously defensive game on both sides as shown by the half time score of 21 to 20 in favor of the Friars. The Friars held onto a slim lead as each team traded baskets until late in the 4th quarter. Unforced turnovers and some missed scoring opportunities caused the Friars to relinquish the lead, when Divine intervention, in the form of a 6th Gael on the floor, in the final seconds gave the Friars 2 Technical foul free throws. The Friars pulled even when Toni(Ice in the Veins) Kinard sunk both free throws that ensued. Time ran out on the next possession by the Gaels and into overtime we went.
Two players were Superstars on the floor Tuesday night. They were St. Mary's Kadaja Bailey and St. Anthony's Tamia Lawhorne. Lawhorne was a beast on the boards and a relentless scorer down low while logging her season's 5th Double-Double! However it was Bailey, while scoring a game high 48, who proved to be unstoppable in the 2nd and final OT with both Syd Taylor and Tamia Lawhorne fouled out of the game.
It was a valiant effort but "Down went the Friars"!  They will meet the Gaels again in 2 weeks at Hofstra for the League Championship.
