Holy cow!!! What a meet!   That pool was PACKED!!  I don't know if that's the most ever, but I sure don't remember having 144 athletes in one dual meet.  It was HUGE!  I loved the camaraderie between the Friars and Paul VI.  It even began behind the blocks.  So many times as I walked from the scoring desk and back to the far side of the pool... I saw the two teams talking to each other.  That's what this meet is all about.  Great sportsmanship by the Friars all night long!!!   Boys Won & Girls Won   Our Traditional Dinner... Oh my Gosh, what a dinner!  You Friar parents outdid yourselves.  First, the sign up genius HAS to be a record - full in one night?  Are you kidding me?  That was amazing! Then, I can't tell you how many of Paul VI athletes (and coaches!) told me they just don't have food like that down there. You stuffed 'em! How about those Paul VI parents?  25 parents decided to convoy up here to watch the meet!  That was cool. Special thanks to PVI swimmer Jason and the Panther Gang for bringing "Anthony" into the Friar Family!  What was that thing again?  Goat?  Donkey?  I'll check with the guys as I've already heard it's the new good luck mascot!  haha The T-shirts...  Nailed it!  Probably the most popular shirt we've done yet (pat on my back).  Again, a thanks to Jim and Selena Wolters and Aiden O'Toole for coming through!   So Many Thanks! ALL my coaches...  you are AMAZIN'!  I am so blessed you are ALWAYS there to help me. To ALL the Friar Parents,  I can't even put into words how grateful I am for your hard work, patience, and determination to make that meet/dinner happen. Kris Pikulik... the job no one wants to do - Thank you! Veronica Keane - You did a mint job! :) Thank you ALL for everything! And how 'bout this...  That was just a warm up!  We still have two award dinners to throw!!! Wooo... Friar Celebrations!   Boys, Time for the fun part of hte season to begin! Chaminade and Fordham... Here we come !!!   GO FRIARS!!! Coach Dan McBride

Friars look impressive with 7 individual State cuts vs. Xaverian Swimming fast is contagious.  Joe-Joe Tonna was first to jump on the block and kill it in the 200 free with a state qualifying 1:58.58 (147.02).  Justin Meyn was next in the 200 IM with a state qualifying 2:11.98 (158.80).  Chris Stange sprinted to a state qualifying time in the 50 free, 24.62 (22.00).  Billy Swartwout was a rocket as he killed the state cut and set a NEW school record in the 100 "meter" back with a 57.59 (51.83)!  That wasn't the ONLY record to fall... Michael Chang broke the school meter record by 2 and a half seconds with a NEW Record of 1:06.42 (59.83)!   Setting up the 400 free relay and have the Friars race each other yielded two more state qualifying times in the 100 free for Justin Meyn 53.05 (47.75) and Chris Stange 53.15 (47.84).  That's SEVEN total! Other great swims were turned in by Cole McNulty, Sean Kotch, Jason Yu, Joe McLaughlin, and the 200 free relay anchored by Friar Diver, Tyler Zyrzycki.
