New Head Coach but a Continued Tradition -
3.0 years ago

St. Anthony’s Athletics announces Mr. Olivier St. Aude as the new Girls Cross Country Coach.

Mr. St. Aude will extend his 16 years of Friar Track and Field success to the girls' cross country program. “It will be exciting being with my team three straight seasons and watching the growth of a runner from beginning to end. The opportunity to construct a full training program from August to June is something I live for.”

Coach O. led the Friars to 9 indoor and outdoor League Championships and 11 State Titles with 7 consecutive Indoor State tiles from 2013-2019. My goals are simple - develop distance runners, lead a program that we can all be proud of, and give opportunities to young ladies to run at the next level.”  The cross country program has a strong history with 26 League Championship and 12 CHSAA State Titles since 1984. He hopes to continue to provide strong leadership like his predecessors, Head Coach Delia Hopkins and the late Head Coach Kieran Moran. “It will be an honor to get to put my name in the record books next to theirs.”

His training program is not easy, but developing athletes at any level is what a coach enjoys and here at St. Anthony’s having a large roster, good team camaraderie, and success is truly what it’s about. “Cross country is a special season and distance runners are often in a class of their own, I know I will enjoy the opportunity to showcase their talent’s at meets like the Brown Invitational and the Manhattan Invitational and earning my first cross country CHSAA League Title.” His dedication to Friar Nation is clear in how he trains athletes in order to showcase them nationally, along with giving young ladies self-confidence each week to reach their own personal goals during a season.

A graduate of Uniondale High School where he played football and ran track along with his alma mater St. John’s University, Mr. St. Aude's ability to create winners and build success is well recognized within the sport. He has sent Friars to Villanova, Bucknell, Marist, Stony Brook, Cornell, Brown, Texas Chrisitan, Virginia Tech, and St, John’s to name a few.

Athletic Director Mr. Joe Minucci is excited about the future of our Girls’ Cross Country program.  “Coach O is a great leader and will work extremely hard for our girls.  Cross country will have the same ingredients as track and field that will allow for the same success as the programs continue to grow.”
