Another thrilling volleyball season has come to a close—one filled with growth, grit, and unforgettable moments. This year’s team was packed with young, hungry talent, and with only three graduating seniors, the future looks incredibly promising. But those three seniors? They were the heart of the squad.
Keanne Hernandez stepped up in a big way as our go-to outside hitter, showcasing his full arsenal—from thunderous jump serves to precision-placed kills. Anthony Lambdin, a four-year starter, anchored the net with unmatched presence as our top blocker, constantly disrupting opponents’ attacks. And Chris Grabowski, our stalwart libero, led the defense with poise and intensity, commanding the back row with elite passing and leadership.
From day one in the gym, this team put in the work. We welcomed a number of newcomers—some picking up a volleyball for the first time—yet their determination, coachability, and never-quit attitude stood out all season long. While there were highs and lows, the mission was simple: improve a little each day and be ready for playoffs. And that’s exactly what they did.
One of the season’s biggest highlights came against powerhouse Chaminade. In front of our home crowd, the Friars dug deep and took them down in a thrilling five-set battle: 16-25, 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 15-13. Dante Cunha led the charge with 15 kills, followed by Keanne with 9, while Anthony posted a dominating double-double—10 blocks and 10 kills. Owen LaPersonerie orchestrated the offense with a stellar 53 assists.
Another electric matchup came against defending champs Kellenberg Memorial, who brought a stacked roster. The Friars pushed them to the brink, handing them their only set loss of the season in a gritty, back-and-forth match that tested every player's resolve.
We entered the playoffs strong, sweeping St. Francis Prep in the opening round. That earned us another showdown with Kellenberg in the semifinals. Though we fell short, the boys left everything on the court—walking off with heads high and hearts full.
To the entire team: you made us proud. Your fight, passion, and growth were inspiring. A special congratulations to our two All-League selections, Dante and Anthony—you earned it. And to our seniors, Keanne, Chris, and Anthony—thank you for your leadership and legacy. Best of luck in college—you’ll be deeply missed.
It’s been an honor coaching this group of dedicated young men. The foundation has been laid, and I can't wait to see what next year holds.
