Hello, my name is Donna Newman and I am the Varsity Volleyball Coach here at St. Anthony’s High School for the past 27 years.  I would like to welcome you to St. Anthony’s and also pass along some important information to help you get ready for volleyball tryouts this coming summer. 

The tryouts  Monday August 20^th  and Tuesday August 21^st  from 9am to 11:30am. 

The varsity team will be chosen on the completion of tryouts on Tuesday August 21^st . 
The junior varsity team will make their first cuts on Tuesday August 21^st  and final cuts on Wednesday August 22^nd .   You need to be at all tryout dates in order to make the team. 

Wear an all white shirt with their last name on the back of the shirt.  Please make sure your name is visible.  Each player will be given a tryout number to be written on their shirt as well. 

We will be holding our annual Friar Volleyball Camp Monday June 25th through Thursday June 28th.  The hours of the camp are 9am to 2:30pm.  You can sign up online.  The camp will include team competition as well as individual volleyball skills.  We have an array of college and high school coaches and the ratio of players to coach is 8 players to 1 coach.  I will also be running a mini skills camp right before tryouts for any student attending St. Anthony’s High School.  The camp will run August 6th through August 10th from 8:30am to 10:30am.  This will be run by the St. Anthony’s volleyball coaching staff.  It will be run at the Sports Arena located in Smithtown.  This is NOT mandatory for making the team.  I will be giving the flyer out for this clinic during camp.  If you are unable to attend the camp and wish to attend the clinic please email me at donvolley@aol.com and I will be happy to send you a flyer. 

All students who wish to participate in interscholastic sports must submit a valid sports physical examination online with the Appryse app.  The sports season includes tryouts.  The physical shall be valid for 12 months. Along with signing up with Appryse you need to pay a $25 insurance fee to the Athletic Department that can be paid on line.   If you have not been physically cleared by the tryout date your name will not appear on my tryout list and then you can’t tryout.    Once the team is picked I can’t add any names .NO EXCEPTIONS.

Nurse Hours are:  August 14^th and August 15^th from 9am -12noon. Thursday August 16^th and Friday August 17^th from 8am to 11am and Monday August 20^th and Tuesday August 21^st from 9am to 12noon.

Congratulation Allleague: Team Scholar: Emily Rail and had 300 digs for the season

Head Coach Donna Newman has been with both the boys and girls volleyball programs for 27years. She has won 11 league titles and 3 state titles.

With over 40 teams competing in the KSA Disney Volleyball Tournament, St. Anthony's returns to campus finishing second in the Gold Bracket.
