This clinic is for girl’s grades 6 th , 7 th and 8 th grade.
They will be put through skill stations covering
serving, hitting, passing and setting. This is a great

2018 SEASON:
This years volleyball team was comprised of hardworking dedicated young ladies who embraced the concept “the team comes first” It was never the same player making the outstanding kills or the dynamite serve, they all contributed to the success of the season.  From the start, the lady Friars competed in top level tournaments facing off against the finest teams up and down the east coast.
These matches prepared them for an extremely competitive league season. Their fine play and determination allowed them to recapture the regular season title with a record of 13-1.  They competed long and hard throughout the playoffs earning them a spot in the championship game. They fought courageously and admirably in the match falling just short. These ladies were compassionate, hard working and fun to watch. They were a team that I was extremely proud to lead. The team will graduate 5 seniors. 
Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team on a great season.

COACH:
Coach Newman has been coaching Girls and Boys Varsity Volleyball for the past 28 years at St. Anthony’s.  Coach Newman has won three state titles and 11 league championships. Coach Newman was a three sport all American at Molloy College in volleyball, basketball and softball and and was inducted into the St. Anthony’s Athletic Hall Of Fame this past June.

Hello, my name is Donna Newman and I am the Varsity Volleyball Coach here at St. Anthony’s High School for the past 27 years.  I would like to welcome you to St. Anthony’s and also pass along some important information to help you get ready for volleyball tryouts this coming summer. 

The tryouts  Monday August 20^th  and Tuesday August 21^st  from 9am to 11:30am. 

The varsity team will be chosen on the completion of tryouts on Tuesday August 21^st . 
The junior varsity team will make their first cuts on Tuesday August 21^st  and final cuts on Wednesday August 22^nd .   You need to be at all tryout dates in order to make the team. 

Wear an all white shirt with their last name on the back of the shirt.  Please make sure your name is visible.  Each player will be given a tryout number to be written on their shirt as well. 

We will be holding our annual Friar Volleyball Camp Monday June 25th through Thursday June 28th.  The hours of the camp are 9am to 2:30pm.  You can sign up online.  The camp will include team competition as well as individual volleyball skills.  We have an array of college and high school coaches and the ratio of players to coach is 8 players to 1 coach.  I will also be running a mini skills camp right before tryouts for any student attending St. Anthony’s High School.  The camp will run August 6th through August 10th from 8:30am to 10:30am.  This will be run by the St. Anthony’s volleyball coaching staff.  It will be run at the Sports Arena located in Smithtown.  This is NOT mandatory for making the team.  I will be giving the flyer out for this clinic during camp.  If you are unable to attend the camp and wish to attend the clinic please email me at donvolley@aol.com and I will be happy to send you a flyer. 

All students who wish to participate in interscholastic sports must submit a valid sports physical examination online with the Appryse app.  The sports season includes tryouts.  The physical shall be valid for 12 months. Along with signing up with Appryse you need to pay a $25 insurance fee to the Athletic Department that can be paid on line.   If you have not been physically cleared by the tryout date your name will not appear on my tryout list and then you can’t tryout.    Once the team is picked I can’t add any names .NO EXCEPTIONS.

Nurse Hours are:  August 14^th and August 15^th from 9am -12noon. Thursday August 16^th and Friday August 17^th from 8am to 11am and Monday August 20^th and Tuesday August 21^st from 9am to 12noon.
