Girls Varsity Badminton had a great 2023 season. With 16 returners from last year, and 12 new players, we built a team that worked together, from the youngest to the oldest players. We especially could not be prouder of our freshmen, who showed up each day and were committed to learning the rules and strategy of the game for the future of the program.

We finished as CHSAA League Runners Up with a 10-2 season record, and an overall 11-3 finish, claiming accolades in several categories.

Our #1 singles player, Madeline Diemer, not only earned 1st place for her position, but the Karen Andreone Memorial Player of the Year Award, for the SECOND year in a row! Madie has not dropped a single game, let alone a set, in over two years. In addition to Madie’s individual success, we also came in first or second place in 5 of the 7 Varsity positions and all 11 Varsity Players earned the All League title.

Although we would have preferred a different ending for this season, as coaches, we could not have been happier with the final efforts left on the court in that Championship Match. The girls played their hearts out and gave it everything they had for one last game. We’d also like to thank our Season Captains, Madeline Diemer, Ella Connolly, and Sophia Basta for leading the team both on and off the court.

We look forward to each girl returning and further developing their skills in the 2024 season!

Head Coach 

Miss Roveto, a St. Anthony’s graduate herself, has been teaching here for the past 9 years where she primarily teaches Honors Biology. She is involved in a number of different student activities at school, such as the Special Needs Ministry Club. Since she returned back to St. Anthony’s she has been involved with Athletics, coaching Girls Soccer in the fall and Girls Badminton in the spring. She has coached every level in the Girls Soccer Program and is now the Assistant Varsity Coach. She has also been the Girls Varsity Badminton Coach since 2018 and has worked hard to build a winning program.  In 2019 and 2022, the team was undefeated and Miss Roveto earned Coach of the Year.

Ms. Rovetto is grateful for Miss Roecklein’s support and help throughout the season and is looking forward to seeing what the team can do next year!
