Our 2025 season was nothing short of extraordinary. For the second consecutive year, the Friars finished the season as the #1 ranked team in the nation, completing a perfect 17-0 record—a rare and remarkable feat that speaks to the heart, discipline, and unity of this team.

Led by an exceptional senior captain trio—Molly Hiney, Julia May O’Connor, and Katherine Rathjen, the Friars competed with poise and excellence against some of the best programs in the country. With statement victories over Darien (CT), Chatham (NJ), and New Canaan (CT).  The team once again proved they belonged on the national stage.

Most recently, the Friars secured their 25th CHSAA ‘AA’ Championship, a milestone that reflects the legacy and dominance of our program. Individual honors followed a historic season:

● Molly Hiney was named CHSAA Player of the Year

● Katherine Rathjen earned Offensive Player of the Year

● Julia May O’Connor was named Championship Game MVP

Over the course of 17 games, the Friars tallied 259 goals while allowing an average of just 3 goals per game—a testament to their relentless defense and balanced, dynamic offense. This team didn’t just win. They completed the job. They played for each other, represented the black and gold with pride, and achieved perfection—again. The 2025 Friars will forever be remembered as one of the most special, accomplished, and united teams in St. Anthony’s

history.

Head Coach

Coach Messina is an Alumna of Saint Anthony’s.  She was a four year member of the University of Florida women’s lacrosse team.  Upon graduation, she began coaching at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, Florida for five years before returning to Long Island.  Coach Messina began teaching and coaching at Saint Anthony’s during the 2022 2023 school year.  She is in her second season as the varsity head coach and works as a guidance counselor.
