JV HOCKEY WINS CHAMPIONSHIP

Our JV Catholic Ice Hockey team ventured into unfriendly territory to play the final game 3 against rival Chaminade at their home rink, Cantiague Park. It was a classic Friars versus Flyers close match up with both teams playing excellent hockey all year.
With the series tied 1-1 and the game tied 2-2, a spirited and very close contest needed overtime to decide a winner.
Early in overtime, our Friars were penalized and down a skater. Fortunately, the Flyers received a penalty shortly thereafter. While skating 4 on 4, our Friars put on tremendous offense zone pressure which their talented goalie was able to withstand.
At 5:11 of overtime, our Friars deftly made a superb pass across the crease and were able to score and closeout the game victoriously, 3 to 2.
The sweet celebration of a JV Catholic League Championship ensued amongst players, coaches and parents. This is their first win in 3 decades!
